Two more new signs sprouted up lately. 1st Security Bank and Big Sky Motel are both sporting new signs. 1st Security updated their reader board sign to a new color model. Per Shawn Dutton, the old sign had been in place for over 20 years, and parts to fix it were impossible to find. Those Wayfinding Signs! Wayfinding signs - another joint effort of the Montana Main Street project as designed by Roundup resident Morgan Belveal. The Friends of the Library hosted local author Thomas Thackeray at the library on St.Patrick's Day. He entertained listeners with readings from his latest book, "A Complete Idiot's Guide to Being Wonderful". I caught up with Linda Kane and her dog, Muttley, the other day to chat about her walk for 'Stop Soldier Suicide'. Linda and her furry friend are walking a mile a day during March to benefit soldiers that suffer from PTSD and other mental health issues that could lead to taking their own lives. Nothing gets attention like that big hole in the ground at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Main Street in Roundup. Once the site of a gas station, it now has a 20 foot deep hole. A leaky diesel storage tank in the past caused the DEQ, the Department of Environmental Quality, to dig up a lot of contaminated dirt on Tuesday last. The American Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Western Music Rendezvous is a three day cultural festival held annually in Lewiston, MT. The festival is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the history, heritage and values of the cowboy lifestyle of the Upper Rocky Mountain West. Local resident Scott Praye first envisioned the Winter Gospel concerts back in 2021. While watching gospel music videos one Saturday afternoon, he thought of a free gospel concert. He tossed about the idea over a few months, and eventually gave Roundup the Winter Gospel event in 2022. It proved so successful he repeated it in 2023.
