The Panthers traveled to Forsyth last Thursday to challenge the Dogies in a non-conference game. Forsyth presents the same challenge we have faced most of the year and that is they had tremendous size. The one advantage the Panthers had was their depth and bench play. Both teams started the game slow offensively as the outside jumpers wouldn’t fall. The Panthers started in a man defense with an emphasis on keeping their big guards in front of them. The defense didn’t want their guards to get going downhill so to speak as they are difficult to...

The Columbus Cougars came to town on Friday to challenge the Panthers in a conference game. Both teams struggled to shoot the ball consistently in the first half. The Panthers had the better of it early as some of our shots fell. The Panthers did a great job of getting the ball inside and got some great looks from kick outs by Dylan and Colton but the three ball wasn’t falling in the first half. The defense did a great job of keeping the Cougars off balance. AJ, Michael, Kaide, and MaKale applied lots of pressure on their guards creating t...

Christmas Break is a great time for our players to spend time with their families and recharge their batteries. For the Panthers it also meant the beginning of a difficult part of their schedule. First up was the Huntley Project Red Devils. Huntley boasts a lineup with 3 players 6'5" or bigger. The Panthers spent Christmas break game planning for Huntley's size and pressure. The Red Devils attack teams with a number of presses. The Panthers were prepared for the pressure but had to get over...

The Panthers hosted the Shepherd Mustangs for their first conference game of the year. It was not a great game to watch for the spectators as the offense for either team wasn’t really good but on the other hand the game was close throughout and no one should have been bored. Shepherd jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. Their leading scorer hit 5 quick points but then Brigem and Michael began to put the clamps on him. The Panthers shifted to a 2-3 zone that seemed to take the wind out of the Mustangs sails. At one time point in t...

The Panthers hosted the Baker Spartans on Thursday night for their first home game of the year. Unfortunately, the game started much the same as their game against Winnett. The Panthers struggled to make shots early but did a better job of moving the basketball, showing some patience, and getting quality shots. Baker had 4 different players score for them in the opening quarter and they had a 13-7 lead at the end of the first period. The defense was solid all night long which gave our offense an opportunity to get going. In the second quarter...
