The local VFW Post 4925 is embarking on a "make-over" for the War Memorial Park. Signal Peak generously donated $14,723 for six new flag poles and flags to represent the six branches of the military, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force. The flags will be placed ten feet apart, giving a beautiful presentation for the end of Main Street. Many other donations have been made towards the project for solar lights, concrete, and dirt work. HELENA - Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen and 23 other states filed a lawsuit against an egregious and overreaching Biden administration gun control regulation that will turn millions of gun owners into felons if they do not register certain devices they lawfully own with the federal government and pay a tax. The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota Western Division against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and its director that seeks...
HELENA, Mont. – Along with 24 other governors, Governor Greg Gianforte yesterday urged President Joe Biden to delay implementation his Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule until the U.S. Supreme Court issues a ruling Sackett v. EPA. The governors cited the rule's harmful impact on communities, small business owners, farmers, and ranchers throughout the country. "The WOTUS definition has been under scrutiny for nearly twenty years, and your Administration's rule only further complicates the efforts to create certainty under the CWA [Clean W...
The editors and columnists in Ag Publications have often stated that if the ranching community hopes to get anything done they have to speak with one voice. I agree. However, some large organizations claiming to represent the cow/calf producers and feeders are not representing our interests. One of the main issues that are dividing us is mandatory country of origin labeling (MCOOL) of beef and pork. Frankly, I am baffled as to why these organizations are opposing it if the cattle producers and feeders feel it would help them break even? In the...
On Wednesday February 1, a large balloon was seen hovering over Billings airport. Residents and passengers watched the balloon in amazement. It was the same balloon that our Pentagon had been tracking as they saw it as a Chinese surveillance balloon. Our Governor Greg Gianforte,a former Navy Seal said that he wanted to"shoot it down!. The fact is,to take down a balloon this size and because of their construction, would be extremely difficult if not impossible to do. They are made to be resistant to any available weapons. The envelope of these st...
Recently I ran across an article on the web that got me to thinking about larger issues. The article was "The Reason There's Been No Cure for Alzheimer's" by Joanne Silberner (https://www.thefp.com/p/where-is-the-cure-for-alzheimers). In it the author's father had died from dementia and she is trying to uncover why in 20 years no effective treatments for dementia have been researched. After digging into it she finds that researchers have only been looking at amyloid plaques as the cause of the problem. And why the focus on amyloid plaques to...
On February 9, US Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and ten Republican co-sponsors introduced a resolution "expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States must end its military and financial aid to Ukraine, and urges [sic] all combatants to reach a peace agreement." When Matt Gaetz is right (which really isn't very often), he's right. If two authoritarian regimes -- and make no mistake, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's gang has proven itself just as violent and authoritarian as Vladimir Putin's -- want to fight, there's not...

The Panthers traveled to Columbus on Tuesday evening to get their busy week started. The Panthers found their stride mid quarter as Jordan and Braedan splashed a couple of three balls. The second quarter saw the Panthers jump out early and take the lead for a short while and then the Cougars responded with a run of their own to lead 29-19 at the half. Kylen, Morgan, and Jace did a pretty good job of containing their big...
