  • Taking care of injured and killed officers and their families

    Mar 29, 2023

By: Sen. Barry Usher In recent years talk of defunding the police has been popular in other states, but our Montana values run contrary to that line of thinking. We believe in supporting those who put their lives on the line to protect citizens every day. To that end I have recently introduced Senate Bill 294. SB 294 establishes the End of Watch Trust. The purpose of this End of Watch Trust is to make sure that we are taking care of police officers and their families if something awful should happen and an officer is killed or suffers a...

  • Letters to the Editor

    Mar 29, 2023

From the members of Musselshell Valley VFW Post 4925 Roundup, Montana. We feel that the cover of the Mid Rivers phonebook image is an improper display of the US Flag. Our flag is a symbol of freedom that has been supported by the many veterans that have served and by all who have given their life in defense of our country. lt is being depicted as a tablecloth. A young child is making a mess eating on top of what appears to be an AmericanFlag. We feel this is disgraceful and degrading to our country. Especially to our active-duty men and women...

  • House Republicans Passed a Conservative State Budget

    Mar 29, 2023

This Week, the House was focused on passing a conservative state budget. House Bill 2, the budget bill, passed a preliminary House vote on a party line following a day-long floor session. House Republicans voted against 14 amendments and $178 million in new spending that was proposed by Democrats. The budget brings a balance between the taxpayers’ pocketbook and the need of critical services of Montanans. We have all felt the impact of inflation and House Republicans did good work on this budget to keep it fiscally conservative and a...

  • "Big Racist Problem"

    Mar 29, 2023

In a February 13th email document obtained during a Freedom of Information Act request to the former principal, he further wrote to the high school staff and others that the two speakers were going to talk about “what minorities hear...
