  • Letters to the Editor

    Apr 27, 2022

Inflation in the United States - Part 2 John Steele Gordon War is, by far, the most expensive of all government operations. And both the Confederate and United States governments faced unprecedented financial stresses in funding the Civil War. How each of them met the challenge helped determine, in no small degree, the outcome of the war. Governments have only three ways to fund operations. They can tax, they can borrow, and they can print. Both governments did all three, but the particular mix was very different. The northern states had a...

  • Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor- It was with great intrigue I read a letter to the editor from a school board member thanking the community with "high praise for public participation" during a recent superintendent search. The author highlighted the "important leadership" position a school superintendent held, and the "hiring of a School Superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities of any board in our community". • A Story of Poverty in America

    Apr 27, 2022

To many Americans the date of May 23, 1934 means little. But to some like myself it marks the ending of a story of poverty in America that was ignited by the ambitions of two people. Bonnie Parker and her companion and lover, Clyde Barrow. Both were born in destitute families near Dallas, Texas. Bonnie Parker was born October 1, 1910 in Cement City, a ghetto of poverty stricken people outside of Dallas, Texas. Clyde Champion Barrow was born on March 24, 1909 in Ellis County, Texas. His family was financially and incapable of paying bills and...

  • COMMENTS ON THE BLM'S EA FOR THE APR CHANGES

    Apr 27, 2022

There is a saying in northeastern Montana that a couple of good rains make every rancher a good grass manager. The converse is that a couple of years of severe drought show who the good grass managers really are. Over the years grazing management has morphed from continuous grazing to incorporating rest periods to facilitate vegetation recovery. Often, during periods of ideal growing conditions, the benefits of rest periods are not readily noticeable. However, they really show up when growing conditions are less than ideal, such as during a...

By Susan Ferrechio - The Washington Times The Florida Senate voted Wednesday to end Disney’s special taxing district in a battle over the state’s new sex education law, pushing the theme park giant a step closer to losing the unique autonomy it has functioned under since the park was built more than five decades ago.
