By Dale Alger The Musselshell Valley Historical Museum has a new tipi. It is located east of the NF Cabin. Joe Trakimas is an excellent historically accurate artist. He did research on the Blackfoot or Blackfeet Tribe and the Crow Indians. The Musselshell River around here was the dividing line between the two nations. The Crow used the land south of the Musselshell and the Blackfeet used the land north of the Musselshell. Since the museum is located north of the Musselshell River, Joe used Blac...

During the same time, river basins east of the Divide didn’t receive the same wet weather pattern. Some basins in southwest Montana (Jefferson, Madison, and Gal...

YOU CAN HELP! First, a word of apology for giving you the wrong title to Mark Twain’s book last week. The correct title is “Innocents Abroad” and the prophesy God gave about a stranger from a far away land proclaiming Israel’s poverty and desolation to the world is found in Deuteronomy 29:22. Mark Twain was that stranger and his book prepared the way for the return of Israel as a nation. God always keeps His Word. I don’t often use other people’s texts, but this was helpful to me and hopefully to you. We can be effective in this age of turmoil,...
Nancy, we could not wait until the last minute to cancel RIDE this summer. There’s a lot more to it than you realize in putting on an event like this. Our RIDE budget is over $100,000. Regardless of how you feel about the political side of Covid-19, it is real, has killed a lot of people, and still many people are fearful of being in large crowds. I’m tired of the restrictions too, but right now we’re in Stage 2 of the Governors guidelines, and even if we go to stage 3 by July 1, we’ll still be so hindered by what we’d have to do under tho...
By MTGOP Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt Each time we cast a vote, we are shaping the future of our country. But never before in my lifetime has a vote been of higher consequence than it will on November 3rd. As we know, the socialist insurgence within the Democratic Party did not die at the end of Bernie Sanders’ campaign this spring. In fact, the opposite is true. Socialist principles define the Democratic Party this cycle. As a result of the Democrats’ shift to the left, only one party’s candidates are left to stand for the freedom that Amer...
By Siri Fiske Many K-12 schools have been closed for over two months -- and people are understandably panicking about students "falling behind." Parents are frantically downloading curricula and buying workbooks off the shelves for homeschooling. District administrators are uncertain which grade levels to place students in this fall. Americans are right to worry. But this wouldn't be such a problem if the education system made one systemic change. The current education system is a relic of the Industrial Revolution. Education expert Sir Ken...
“What I'm saying is not any defense for Derek Chauvin, I hope Derek Chauvin gets the justice that he deserves” and his family also for the way that he died. But, “George Floyd is not my martyr. He may be yours.” So said Candace Owens a black defender of liberty in a recent YouTube video. As noted by honest observers, Bid Tech has turned radically left blocking and removing anything outside the Democrat Party narrative. As private corporations they have a legal right to do this but as a monopoly of information in the public square they do not....
Democrats have stood for slavery, segragation, and birthed the KKK. They say that their past is not relevant today ,as a cop out for past policy and behaviors towards others especially those of color. Their incoherence and hypocrisy aside, purge this party !! What they are trying to do today, tear down this nation and rebuilt it....How what other plan do these commies offer us? Roundup has one of the best small-town 4th of July events and fireworks to be found. Everyone comes, some from miles around. There is a local pride and festive spirit. What a disappointment to read of this year’s lack of events. It is especially confusing that our small town is cancelling when we see the rest of the world protesting, rioting, and looting freely while disregarding social distancing. Even locally, we have had a Main Street cruise on Friday evenings without controversy. Most, if not all, local businesses are open and people are d...

Raising backyard poultry has become an increasingly popular activity in Montana. Spring is a common season to purchase and begin raising young birds, and there are many feed stores in Montana that sell chicks and ducks. While there are benefits to raising poultry, there are also associated health risks. Poultry can carry and shed bacteria such as Salmonella without showing any signs of disease. Salmonella can cause illness in humans and can be spread while handling live poultry or objects in their environment. Montana has already investigated...
For months we've been chronicling people that migrated to Montana to carve out lives and deaths, farms, ranches, railroads, mining industries, towns, and what have you. We haven't forgotten the one's that already were here, the American Indians or Native Americans, as you prefer. Of course, they themselves were just earlier migrants, but they lived and worked and built things, too, not to mention taught the white intruders tricks for living in their new territory, so they deserve to be included....
While you’re busy filling your landscape with beautiful flowers and scrumptious vegetables, the deer, rabbits and other wildlife are watching and waiting to move in to dine. Don’t lose your beautiful investment to hungry animals. Be proactive in keeping wildlife at bay, so you can grow a beautiful landscape this season. Protect plants as soon as they are set in the ground. It’s easier to prevent damage rather than break a habit. Once critters find delicious plants, they will be back for more and they’re likely to bring along a few additio...
