  • Letter's to the Editor

    Jun 30, 2021

Should you take the Covid vaccine? The big message implied by the mass media is "If you take a covid vaccine, you will be permanently safe from Covid". The fine print says "There's a small chance you might get Covid after the shot". Apart from the legal fine print and concerns about the safety of various Covid vaccines there is a larger issue about vaccines that no one is talking about. Over the long haul vaccines do not work. The reason has to do with the very essence of viruses & vaccines. When a virus enters a human body it wants to make cop...

Bittersweet is that taste left after laughter following inappropriate words or actions by our elected officials. The entertaining, but inappropriate, reactions by some elected officials (representing states addicted to income from petroleum), following the cessation of new drilling permits for oil and gas on public land and water, evokes such a bittersweet taste. The officials’ short term fixation on monies derived from the production and sales of such a globally fatal substance is really no better than that fixation of those who profit from t...

  • The Price Declaration of Independence Signers Paid for Your Liberty

    Harold Pease PhD|Jun 30, 2021

The Declaration of Independence ends with one of the most passionate appeals ever put to words and memorized by yesterday’s grade school child. “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.” This document would bring on war against the then greatest power on earth, and no European strategist gave the Patriots a ghost of a chance of winning—yet they stood. Signers would be seen as traitors to the mother...

  • What to the Conservative is Juneteenth?

    Jun 30, 2021

Rep. Rosendale In theory there is nothing wrong with a celebration of emancipation. The freeing of the slaves was one of the great steps forward for this country, an end to the darkest chapter in American history. But we don’t live in theory. Our politics happens in practice, and in practice the vote that elevated “Juneteenth National Independence Day” to the status of a federal holiday is a disaster for those who hold that our country is good, our Constitution a great charter of liberty, and that the nation is to be commended for its progr...

  • Missouri's New Gun Law Should be Extended to Other Issues

    Thomas L Knapp|Jun 30, 2021

On March 14, Missouri governor Mike Parson signed HB 85, aka the Second Amendment Preservation Act, into law. HB 85's first two sections can reasonably be read as "nullification" of a sort, insofar as they point out the unconstitutionality of a number of federal laws that violate the Second Amendment. Oddly, however, the US Department of Justice seems more concerned with its third and fourth sections of the bill, which prohibit Missouri's courts and law enforcement agencies from enforcing, or assisting with the enforcement of, those unconstitut...

    Jun 30, 2021

Cymbeline, one of Shakespeare’s lesser known plays, is coming to Roundup. Cymbeline, like The Winter's Tale and The Tempest, is one of Shakespeare ’s genre-defying later plays referred to as romances or tragicomedies. The happy ending of the production distinguishes it from Shakespeare’s earlier histories and tragedies. Though the play emphasizes the danger and power of evil and death, these forces are never victorious, yet loom ever-present in the story. Set in pre-Christian Britain, there...
