The Roundup Swim Team travelled to Scobey the weekend of July 27th & 28th to compete in the Eastern Divisional Meet. Roundup is one of the ten teams in our division with 300 plus swimmers. Due to some injuries, our team was down a couple of swimmers, but the spirit was high and the competition was great! Every year about this time, Big Sky State Games comes to Montana and culminates in Billings. It is an Olympic-style sports festival for people all ages and abilities who reside in Montana. Begun in 1986 with 3,376 athletes competing in 12 sports, it grew last year to 10,000 athletes competing in 35 sports. Pickleball is one of those sports. This past July 4-7th, the Roundup Independence Day’s Extravaganza (RIDE) celebrated it’s 15th annual event, and with the help of our sponsors, volunteers, donors, vendors, and the people who came out to support us, we would like to thank you for making this year our biggest one yet. Melvin “Mel” Arvi Rintala, age 68, of Musselshell, MT passed away suddenly of natural causes at his cabin in Cooke City on Sunday, July 20th, 2019. His wife, Lou Ann, was at his side. Throughout the Roundup area and Musselshell county, there have been significant effects to cottonwood, aspen, poplar, and willow tree species. The pest responsible for this defoliation is the cottonwood leaf beetle, Chrysomela scripta Fabricius. Helena, Mont. – The Montana Department of Agriculture has updated its noxious weed list to include ventenata (Ventenata dubia). The Noxious Weed Listing Workgroup recommended adding ventenata to the Priority 2A list at its meeting on March 21, 2019. The amendment was adopted on June 21st, 2019.
