  • Local Post Master is also a Chainsaw Artist

    Lura Pitman|Jul 31, 2024

Roundup has so many varied talents in its community. Roundup's Postmaster, Sandy Schrumpf, works tirelessly during the day to get everyone's mail and packages delivered and manage the post office. She then goes home, fires up her chain saw, and starts carving. For relaxation. While this may not seem like everyone's type of stress relief, for Sandra it is. She took the hobby up for that singular purpose a few years ago, and has been carving every sense. She has sold many carvings, and donated to...

  • Letters to the Editor

    Jul 31, 2024

A Time for Justice, Not Vengeance By Cory Swanson I was shocked to read an op-ed by retired Montana Supreme Court Justice James Nelson where he says that former President Donald Trump got what he had coming when a gunman tried to kill him. Nelson accused Trump of being a neo-Nazi and said Trump had reaped what he sowed. He declined to condemn the violence or offer any words toward political healing. This is the exact opposite of what America needs right now. We need a return to a political environment of mutual respect and commitment to...

  • Letters to the Editor

    Jul 31, 2024

Governor Jeff Landry of the state of Louisiana has just made a new bill that requires every classroom in that state display the Ten Commandments. Texas and Oklahoma have considered designing a similar bill for their states' classrooms.Since our founding as a nation under God faith was always a part in our education system. We are a country founded onJudeo christianity. The Democratic party changed this abruptly in 1979 when Democrat President Jimmy Carter federalized our education system. So this paved the way for atheists in 1980 to challenge...

  • Letters to the Editor

    Jul 31, 2024

For this letter I decided to go to the Brain of Brilliance, the Machine of Mentality, the God of Griping, the Oracle of Offal to get my raw material. That's right; I got lazy and went to the Internet to write the letter. These are quotes I have collected that have some bearing on the situation we are in today. Each quote is preceded by **, and while some are decades old, some came off a blog last week. I don't agree with all the sentiments contained herein but they are all good food for thought and conversation. To make things more interesting...
