  • Fire Works, Parties, Resolutions, and Traditions

    Lura Pitman|Dec 29, 2021

Another year closes and a new year begins. While pondering how fast this turbulent year flew by, I remembered from my childhood the coloring pages of baby new year and old father time. I decided to see where the tradition had started and why. You might think Baby New Year would signify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a newborn child. However, according to History.com, a baby representing the new year began in 600 B.C. in ancient Greece. In Greece, each year they celebrated the rebirth of...

Is Ensuring Election Integrity Anti-Democratic? Sixteen years ago, in 2005, the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform issued a report that proposed a uniform system of requiring a photo ID in order to vote in U.S. elections. The report also pointed out that widespread absentee voting makes vote fraud more likely. Voter files contain ineligible, duplicate, fictional, and deceased voters, a fact easily exploited using absentee ballots to commit fraud. Citizens who vote absentee are more susceptible to pressure and intimidation. And v...

May I bid you all peace and goodwill in the year of 2022. I am sure that you have heard about the United Nations. What I want to center upon today, is the grotesque statue that they placed at the Trump Tower plaza in Manhattan New York City. First, let me write that the United Nations rent at a cost of $69.00 per square foot, a space inside the Trump Towers. After this hideous sculpture was recently unveiled in plain view, the United Nations explained that it was symbolic of international peace. But is it? Let us all go to the book of...

  • If These Fences Could Talk…

    Dec 29, 2021

By Abby Majerus, Snowy Mountain FADC Checking fences, seems like a never-ending chore. Repairing damage done by winter’s drifts, tighten loose wires stretched by the constant passage of deer and antelope, replace posts swept away during the spring thaw. Often fixing fence becomes a great substitution for meditation or therapy. There is something relaxing and freeing about this task, alone on the prairie with just your thoughts and the wind. Sometimes when an old rusted piece of wire falls apart in my hand, I can’t help but wonder who put tha...

    Rick Griffith|Dec 29, 2021

Tuesday afternoon the Panthers traveled to Worden to challenge the Red Devils in another conference game. The Red Devils always present a tough challenge with their athletic ability and physical play. Tuesday was no different.
