The Roundup Panthers started their Covid season at home against Columbus Friday, January 8 and then traveled to Malta on Saturday, January 9. This year's Panther team is a very young team with a lot of promise. The Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s golf teams followed up their strong starts in the Montana Tech Invitational with solid outings in the Carroll College Invitational at the Bill Roberts Golf Course. The women’s team once again placed first with four Battlin’ Bears competing finishing in the top ten. Sophomore Claire Wright ran away with the individual title shooting an even-par 72. The Roundup Swim Team is very excited to announce that in spite of COVID-19, WE ARE HAVING A SEASON! This year the schedule is quite modified compared to our usual eight weeks of invitational meets, divisional meet, and state meet. The Montana Federation of Swimmers board met and decided to split the Eastern Division into two parts: 1) East of the East and 2) West of the East. The Melstone Broncs won their challenge game against the Plenty Coups Warriors on Monday March 9th and made their way to the Class C State tournament in Missoula last weekend. Their first game was Wednesday evening against the Manhattan Christian Eagles, the Broncs lost 38-70. They moved on to play the Belt Huskies on Thursday morning but lost 31-44. The Melstone Lady Broncs made it to the Class C State tournament for the first time since 1977. They played their 1st game in Missoula Thursday evening against the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and came away with a victory, 34-26. They moved on to the semi-final game to play against the Belt Huskies but lost 26-46. The Lady Broncs took 2nd place at the Southern C Divisional tournament in Miles City over the weekend, losing to the Ekalaka Bulldogs 58-61 in the championship game on Saturday night. The Roundup Wrestling Club is proud to have been a part of history this weekend. Two of our wrestlers, Jada Fish and Alyssa Acord, competed in the first annual Montana Girls' State Wrestling Tournament. This was Alyssa's first tournament ever, and though she didn't place, she wrestled hard and walked off the mat smiling. Jada, a fourth year wrestler, went 3-1 for the day (with two pins and a sudden-death overtime win) to earn 3rd place. The team was also represented at the Montana Middle School...
The Melstone Broncs beat the Bridger Scouts 70-69, in their opening game Wednesday afternoon. They moved on to the semi-final game on Thursday to play against the Jordan Mustangs, but came up short and lost 37-42. In loser out action, they beat the Terry Terriers 65-44 on Friday afternoon and went on to a rematch with the Bridger Scouts, beating them 49-31 in the consolation game on Saturday. For only the second time in Ed Rutan's 23 years coaching RHS C/JV has a group of freshmen boys gone undefeated. The Melstone Broncs finished 3rd at the 4C District tournament in Miles City over the weekend, beating the Terry Terriers 67-39 in the consolation game, and finished the season as the 4C Conference Champions.
