The Melstone Broncs and Lady Broncs traveled to Lockwood last week for the Southern C Divisional tournament. The Broncs first game of the tournament was against the Jordan Mustangs; Broncs won 45-35, they moved on to the semi-finals to play the Custer/Hysham Rebels; winning 57-24, they advanced to the championship to face the Broadus Hawks; falling short 25-38. The Broncs will have a challenge game against the Broadview/Lavina Pirates on Monday March 6th in Lockwood, the winner of that game...

Melstone Lady Broncs take 3rd place at the Southern C Divisional Tournament....
The Melstone Broncs hosted the Northern Cheyenne Eagles for their last home game of the season on Friday February 10th. The Varsity girls won 75-20 and the Varsity boys won 75-31. The Broncs traveled to Harlowton to face the Engineers on Saturday February 11th. The JV girls won 25-16, the JV boys won 54-25, the Varsity girls won 52-36 and the Varsity boys lost 43-55. The Broncs and Lady Broncs will head to Lockwood this coming week for the 5C District Tournament....
The Panthers traveled to Columbus on Tuesday evening to get their busy week started. The Panthers got off to a slow start as they missed their opening few shot attempts and Columbus jumped out to a 7-0 lead. The Panthers found their stride mid quarter as Jordan and Braedan splashed a couple of three balls. The second quarter saw the Panthers jump out early and take the lead for a short while and then the Cougars responded with a run of their own to lead 29-19 at the half. This weekend the HS wrestling team was in Columbus for the Eastern B/C Divisionals. Roundup had three who qualified for state and will wrestling at the All Class State Wrestling Tournament the the Metra in Billings on February 10th and 11th. Friday will start at 10:00 am with the Parade of Athletes and Saturday will start at 9:30....

The Panthers only had one game this week as they hosted the Malta Mustangs on Saturday evening. The Malta Mustangs present lots of problems for teams because of their quickness and shooting ability and Saturday they brought their problems to Roundup. Malta got out of the gate quickly scoring the first seven points. The Panthers stemmed the tide a bit with a couple of baskets in a row but then the Mustangs went on a 10-0 run that opened the gates. The schedule had the Panthers back at it on Tuesday against district foe Huntley Project. Having won three games in row the Panthers were feeling good about their play and excited for the challenge that the Red Devils present. Unfortunately, some aspects of the game you can control and some you can’t. Shooting is an aspect that comes and goes with players and teams.
