I am not sure if the community is aware of how many officers have been hired and then let go before their probationary period is over. To my knowledge, 1 officer was encouraged to resign once the new Sheriff took office. And, since Sheriff Lesnik’s hiring, he has hired and then let go 2 new officers. The two new officers is what I’m concerned about. These new officers appeared to be individuals who wanted to support changes within the department. These individuals both understood the community’s frustration with “protecting the good old boys” attitude. These individuals felt that a different approach, not needing to be a ‘bully’ or ‘harassing’ individuals was always required to maintaining a safe environment. But, rather than working on changing the atmosphere and promoting community policing, Sheriff Lesnik has once again chosen “the good old boys” over the rest of the community. I hope, I am not the only community member disappointed with NO CHANGE in the Musselshell County Sheriff’s Department.
