Fall Fun Safety

With the arrival of falls cooler temp’s and sunny afternoons, many of us are feeling the urge to spend more time outdoors enjoying the wonderful opportunities that central Montana has to offer, hiking, fishing, hunting, or a lazy Sunday drive. With that said, we all need to remember that this time of year has some extra precautions we need to take while enjoying the outdoors.

Fall poses a few different things to remember while we are out and about. Throughout Montana, several different hunting seasons have begun, bear hunting, bird hunting, antelope, and big game archery seasons are all in full swing. There are a lot of extra people out and about, so remembering a few simple safety ideas can make your time outdoors memorable and just plain fun. When taking your four legged best friend for a walk in the woods, he/she should wear an orange or red bandana. Its not a bad idea for you too. You may not be hunting, but chances are, someone probably is in the area. While your walking in the woods the rattlesnakes are still out and starting to den up. Like us, they enjoy a sunny warm day in the fall to get out and soak up some rays.

Another precaution with Montana Fall is, the weather. Just because its warm in the afternoon, it can cool down quickly or turn down right cold in a hurry. Dress appropriately, don’t forget your water, snacks and such. Let someone know where you’re going and an approximate return time. Cell service is not a guarantee around here, so rescue could be a long wait. With a little planning and preparation, outdoor fall activities can be great times and great memories. Don’t let an avoidable mishap ruin the fun. Get out and enjoy Montana in the fall and enjoy its beaut
