FLATWILLOW and WINNETT NEWS

at Luann Knutson’s home on November 12. She fixed turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and everyone else brought pot luck to go with it. There were eleven members present and one member absent. Birthdays celebrated in November are Ginger Moore, and Lillian Moore.

Luann read the thought for the day called “Family”. Luann had a list of questions to ask each member and that was roll call was answered with. It was fun with each of us getting a different question and hearing all the different answers. A fun way to start our meeting. There was some more discussion of the quilt we are putting together. Bonnie has it put together, now Linda and Melody are working on the finishing up. Linda is getting the names of Homemaker members that are no longer with us to add to a quilt square and doing some binding. Melody will finish up the back of the quilt. It will be beautiful and a wonderful historical keepsake of our current Homemaker group.

Luann’s mother had a quilt that the Homemaker group had quilted many years ago. It is beautiful and a very nice keepsake of the Homemaker group from years past. Melody will sew a pocket on the back of this quilt so we can put a nice curtain rod or dowel through it to hang it up so it can hang in the courtroom at the courthouse.

We decided to pick some names from the Senior tree and get Christmas gifts for them. Sandi said she would check out the tree and buy some gifts for several seniors. Ginger and Luann asked everyone for different ideas for table favors to do for the senior citizens in Winnett. Ginger won the blind pig. The next meeting will be our Christmas party at Melody’s on December 12. There will be a Christmas gift exchange. Sandi, Arlene came from Billings and picked up Florence in Roundup. Bonnie Moore, Ginger Moore, Lillian Moore, Melody Whitcher, Jean Cook, Donna Lund and Raye Anne Lund were all at Luann’s for a fun Thanksgiving themed meeting.

Every year, the Winnett Lions Club has a raffle for prizes that are given away on the first Friday of November each year. This year, there were cash prizes of $250, $150, $100, and the grand prize was a 2019 Honda Polaris Ranger side by side. We want to thank everyone who bought tickets and support the Winnett Lions. They do wonderful things for the community and everyone who lives here. They work hard to give back to the community all year long. Marge Flint won the $250, Ralph Corbett won $150, Karen Hale won $100, and I won the grand prize of the side by side. It was so nice that this year, all the prizes were won by locals.

Thank you also to Lewistown Honda where the Honda side by side was purchased by the Lions. They have supported our Lions Club every year with our grand prize purchases being bought there. Thank you to Jeff and the whole crew for the support. I’m pretty tickled with my new set of wheels.

There will be lots of Christmas gifts ideas there. There will also be four $25 gift cards given away as door prizes. Two are for Hobby Lobby, and two are for Michaels.

Thanksgiving break for Winnett Schools begins on November 27 – 29. Student council will be selling fruit in the next few weeks. They will be making their phone calls the first 2 weeks of November. If you don’t get called and are interested in buying delicious fresh fruit, please call the school. There are oranges, mandarin oranges, pears, and four different kinds of apples. This is a joint project with the student council and PIE.

First day of basketball practice is Thursday, November 21. District 8 Honor Band and Choir will be at Fergus High School this year on Tuesday, November 19. The students will be rehearsing all day and performing their concert at 6:30. Schools represented will be Moore, Hobson, Geyser, Harlowton, Stanford, Winifred, Fergus, and Winnett. Everyone is invited to attend and support our musicians from our area schools. Students from the Winnett Music Department will again be selling Elliotts products as their annual fundraiser. This is a great product made here in Montana. This fundraiser helps the music department with activities throughout the year. Thank you for your support of the Winnett Schools Music Department.

There is a lot going on in the Winnett School and the community this fall. Each year seems busier than the last. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
