Merrill Louis Armstrong, 85, passed away on Dec. 24, 2019, in Roundup.He was born on Oct. 18, 1934, in Cardwell, Montana, going on to graduate from Simms High School and Montana State College with a bachelor's degree in Ag Ed/Science. He taught in Dutton and Fromberg. On April 20, 1957, Merrill married Linda Grace Joppa. They had four children, four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. In his later years, Dad worked as a mechanic, elevator manager, farmer and animal nutritionist. In 1975, Mom and Dad bought the Clothing Corral in Roundup, which was later sold in the late '80s. He enjoyed chipping arrowheads, collecting agate and cutting them. Merrill and Linda ran horses in the '80s, with the most successful one named Dynamatic.Linda passed away on July 1, 2013. Merrill was also preceded in death by his parents, W.H. Armstrong "Army" and Gertrude Carolyn Dodge; two brothers, Bill and John.He is survived by his children, Lyle Armstrong, Sue Brooks, Ron Armstrong and Jay Armstrong; his siblings, Ed Armstrong, Dorothy Gebhardt and Carolyn Eadie; sister-in-law Jean Joppa Armstrong; borthers-in-law, Robert Joppa and Steve Joppa; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Services will be held in Roundup at a later date, possibly in April.Memorials may be made to 4-H, FFA, Boys and Girls Club, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Shriners Children's Hospital.Condolences may be made at http://www.michelottisawyers.com.
