Billings Clinic Begins Construction of 656-space Parking Garage

Billings, MT — On Wednesday, January 8, Billings Clinic is starting construction of a new 656-space, $11.2 million parking garage on its downtown Billings campus. The garage is being built on 10th Avenue North between North 28th and North 29th streets, just across the street from the Billings Clinic Emergency Department. This new parking structure will create much-needed additional parking for Billings Clinic patients, guests and employees.

Thanks to a north-south elevation change, off-street access will be available for the ground and first floor levels. Existing mature boulevard trees will be protected during construction to help the new structure blend into the campus. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020.

To assist patients and guests with convenient parking during construction, Billings Clinic has designated extra patient and visitor parking in the lot immediately east of the construction. Free valet parking is also available on the hospital and clinic sides of the campus. Billings Clinic has also secured additional parking at Montana State University Billings and St. Vincent Healthcare for employee parking. A shuttle is running to transport employees to and from those lots.

“We are extremely grateful to our neighbors at St. Vincent Healthcare and MSUB for sharing parking with us during this construction phase,” said Jim Duncan, Billings Clinic Foundation President. “We know parking will be tight during construction but will improve significantly once completed. We thank our patients, guests and staff for their understanding as we expand services.”

Billings Clinic remains committed to hiring local Montana-Wyoming based businesses for design and construction services. A&E Architects designed the new structure, and Sletten Construction is serving as the general contractor. Sanderson Stewart is the civil engineer, and First Mark is the civil contractor. Whitten & Borges is handling structural engineering duties, SK Geotechnical is providing geotechnical engineering services, and Cushing Terrell is providing mechanical and electrical engineering services.

The garage is part of the multimillion-dollar campus expansion and renovation that was announced by Billings Clinic in the fall of 2018.
