The Panthers hosted the Winnett Rams in a non-conference game on Tuesday. It was a hard fought and well-played game by both teams. Both teams struggled to make shots in the first quarter but the Panthers got the ball inside and Dylan, Colton, and Ryder got some key buckets around the rim to get the Panthers going. The second quarter was quite a contrast to the first quarter as both teams warmed up and started to make shots. The Panthers had four different players score in the quarter as MaKale, AJ, Tanner, Colton, and Dylan all contributed in the offensive output. The Rams matched the Panther output and the halftime score was 27-22 Panthers. The Panthers were firing on all cylinders during the last three quarters. The Panthers were making the extra pass, finding the open cutters, and the players were making shots. The Panthers had 15 assists on 22 made shots for the night. In the second half the Panther offense continued to have great balance as six different players scored. Colton came off of the bench with his best game of the year leading the Panthers with 14 points. Michael and Kaide scored all of their points in the second to contribute in the offense. Kaide had a very solid game for the Panthers. His stat line was 9 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 turnover for the game. The Panthers were able to pull out the victory 63-54.
Scoring was as follows: AJ Gray 2, Ryder Klein 3, Tanner Rae 4, Michael McHenry 8, Kaide Griffith 9, Dylan Sanner 10, MaKale Kembel 13, and Colton Kinn 14.
Friday evening the Panthers traveled to Shepherd for their 6th conference game of the year. The first half was radically different than the previous game on the offensive end. Although the Panthers led 12-10 after the first quarter the Panthers had three different players score in the half. It was a very frustrating evening as the Panthers shot themselves in the foot time and again. The patience was there on offense but the execution was not. The Panthers were able to created turnovers and get some run outs but rarely capitalized on the opportunity. Even with all of that the Panthers only trailed 21-15 at the half. The defense was very solid all night. The Panthers showed a little life in the third quarter outscoring the Mustangs by 2 points to narrow the margin. Unfortunately, the Panthers were able to make three field goals in the fourth and lost the contest 52-40.
Scoring was as follows: Dylan Sanner 3, Ryder Klein 3, AJ Gray 3, Kaide Griffith 3, Colton Kinn 4, Michael McHenry 9, and Tanner Rae 15.
