Rachaell Surh and her trip to Washington D.C.

Local Teen Rachaell Suhr, a Senior at Lavina, has recently returned from her trip to Washington, D.C.. She left for D.C. on January the 6th and returned on the 13th, enjoying seven days in the capitol city.

Rachaell was excited to tell me of her trip. She was able to go on a private tour of the White House and Capital Building, as well as see other spectacular sights such as the National Wall, the Lincoln Monument, and many other memorials and monuments. Another highlight for Rachaell was going to the top of the Washington Monument, where she was able to see the entire city. She said she learned a lot of our nation's history while there.

Rachaell was able to go to Washington through the 4-H program in her school. She had to create a Conservation Action Plan. She was exceptional because no other female in the program had done as in-depth conservation plan as her. Her plan will involve more than just her own community. She presented this plan while in Washington D.C. She plans to work with the local extension agent and Natural Resource Conservation Service and start a bimonthly meeting about conservation and education for Musselshell county and surrounding counties.

Rachaell feels this experience will help her pursue her career interests. She is hoping to attend college for Ag Business and Farm and Ranch management. She currently has cows and sheep that she cares for at her parents property. She was excited to have taken this trip as it was a major trip and adventure. She now feels that traveling is something she will be doing again in the future.
