ROUNDUP NAMED 2020 MONTANA TREE CITY OF THE YEAR

The Forestry Division of the Department of Natural Resources recently notified the City of Roundup//Tree Board that Roundup has been awarded the prestigious 2020 Montana Tree City of the Year. The community designated for this award is chosen by the DNRC Urban Forestry staff and a representative of Montana Urban and Community Forestry Association. Roundup’s application has been ranked in the top three for several years, but the award has historically been granted to communities in the western part of the state. The award comes with a no match $10,000 grant to assist with local programs in improving urban forestry. Roundup’s grant will be used primarily to update its six-year-old inventory.

Roundup’s Arbor Day festivities and the celebration of this award, which will be attended by various state and local officials, will be held at 10:00 a.m., May 1, 2020, at the Community Stage (weather permitting). Mayor Jones will welcome the state officials, and Roundup’s 4th grade students will be taking part in the festivities as they have done for a number of years. Roundup radio KLMB 99.9 FM will be doing a live broadcast.

Please mark your calendars to attend this important event.
