John Murray Phillips

John Murray Phillips went to be with Jesus at the age of 72, on March 28, 2020, in Great Falls, Montana. John was born on February 24, 1948 to Eldon and Clara (Juergens) Phillips in Lewistown, Montana. He attended school in Winnett until he joined the Army. John served three years including one tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. Upon his return from Vietnam, he married Linda Moore. Although, the union was not permanent they had four children and two step-children together. John spent many years in Wyoming working in the oilfield. In 1986, after he lost his son Cory, John returned to Winnett and took over his father's mail route from Winnett to Jordan. He also had a small custom harvesting business. John was an accomplished guitarist, wood worker, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. John was preceded in death by his parents: Eldon and Clara; brothers: Larry (Lois) and David; and his youngest son, Cory. John is survived by his sons: Brian Baucke and Casey (Dori) Phillips; daughter, Kim (Darwin, deceased) Maxwell; step-daughters: Karen (Micky) Schwab and Kelly (Chris) Mattson; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four sisters: Janet (Vernon, deceased) Bauer, Nancy (Harold) Danielson, Judy (Tom, deceased) Fry, and Sandee (Gerry) Hungate; sister-in-law, Mamie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held at a later time.Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home.
