Signal Peak Supports Lab and Radiology Equipment Update

Signal Peak Community Foundation has awarded Roundup Memorial Healthcare $16,935 for the lab equipment replacement project and $75,000 for a new base x-ray unit.

The lab equipment being replaced is the Hematology System and the Coagulation Unit. During these unprecedented times of virus detection, up-to-date lab equipment is more vitally needed than ever. The current hematology system is 8 years old, and 7 years is the standard life of this equipment. The new system would enable a 6‐part differential, which is critical and an industry standard to provide best practice care. Six‐part differential capability is important for early detection of abnormal cells. This capability electronically flags abnormal cells alerting technicians and triggering a review by a pathologist. Earlier detection results in the development of more timely and effective treatment plans and better health outcomes for our patients. Funds are also needed to acquire a new coagulation unit to replace the existing one that is over 20 years old, obsolete, and has restricted repair options.

The current 15-year-old Computed Radiography fixed x-ray system will be replaced with an Agfa DR600 Digital Radiography x-ray. The project includes the new equipment; room renovations required to house the new system; and the associated costs for the required IT, wiring, and software. This new digital fixed system will give our staff and community access to better quality diagnostic details and faster exams at lower radiation doses. With the new x-ray, radiology staff will also be able to provide higher quality results to the treatment team in a more efficient manner than with the current system.

“The new system will also improve patient experience through increased comfort and more efficient, higher quality care,” said Holly Wolff, RMH CEO. “On a larger scale, these funds will also help our staff more fully achieve our vision of a state-of-the-art facility providing wellness services with kindness and proficiency.”

Thank you, Signal Peak Community Foundation, for helping enable these projects for Roundup Memorial Healthcare. Without these donations, these upgrades would be impossible.
