James Alan Gordon, 71, passed away at home on July 18, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lewistown, Montana to John and Ann Gordon. Jim spent his formative years in the Lewistown/Grass Range area before graduating from Grass Range High School in 1967. Jim then attended Billings Business College for two years.
Jim met and married Christine Bartow in Roundup, Montana in 1969. They were married for 51 years and had two sons. Jim began working when he was just a boy for various ranchers during the summer months. He worked numerous jobs before eventually starting his own business doing mineral exploration for large coal corporations. During the energy decline, he began drilling and servicing water wells. Jim took great pride in his work ethic and met many people who became lifelong friends. His favorite thing was visiting with anyone and everyone at the coffee shop. I do not believe Jim ever met a stranger. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing, playing pool and riding snowmobiles and 4x4s. Jim believed in doing his best in everything; he worked hard and played hard, living his life to the fullest. Jim was a selfless, modest and kind man who cast a mighty tall shadow.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents John Gordon and Ann Haworth, father-in-law Gerald Bartow, brothers Larry "Joe" and Jerome "Bob" Gordon, sisters Karen Gordon and Carol Waite, brother-in - law Robert Parrent. He is survived by his wife Christine, sons Ronald (Jenny) and Jason Gordon, grandchildren Josie (Tyson) and Justin Gordon, brothers John "Jack" and Jerrold (Cathy) Gordon, brothers-in-law Stephen Mercado and Melvin Parrent, sisters-in-law Jean Eloranto, Debra (Brian) Moody, Jeri Bartow, mothers-in-law Monie Parrent and "Tootsie" Bartow.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. Condolences for the family may be left at: http://www.heightsfamilyfuneral.com/family/gordon
