Who's Next?

Hi, my name is Stacey. My husband John and I are the Emmanuel Baptist high school youth leaders. Usually we hold 4 fund raisers throughout the year. We prepare and serve meals that are paid for by donation. The funds we raise pay for kids to go to youth events (bowling, 4 wheeling, camping), buy group t shirts, bibles, and much more. This is our only source of funds.

This year however, due to COVID-19 we are not allowed to serve meals. So that’s where the flamingos come in. We have 2 sets of flamingos that we “flock” with. We start with one person who wants to donate (usually $25 or more), to have someone else’s yard flocked. We try to flock when no one is home so it is a surprise. After they’ve been there about 3 days the owner can in turn donate and we will take them to a yard of their choosing. We make sure there is a sign explaining the project, letting them know that if they do not wish to participate we will come get them immediately. Northern Treasures ask if they could stay in the window till the 9th. They will be moved to the nursing home Sunday after church. The other set is being moved tonight and will be on the corner of 4th Ave and 7th St. West.

I have pictures of all of the houses we have flocked so far, if would like them. Thank you for everything you are doing. This has been an unusual year and flocking has brightened the spirits of the kids and us as leaders. The support we get from the Church and the community is amazing.
