Statement From Nicole Borner

I learned last Wednesday my opponent opted to back out of the debate scheduled for last Friday night, claiming a conspiracy existed that would somehow make the debate unfair. I am disheartened by this attack upon the credibility of the citizens who volunteered their time to help organize the event.

Despite deliberate lies, innuendos and attacks on my character and integrity, I have refused to engage in the petty politics and character assassination that has been regularly implemented by my opponent’s camp.

Instead, I have done what you elected me to do-work hard for Musselshell County. Under my leadership, I made sure Musselshell County is in compliance with Montana law. I oversaw the implementation of new procedures that will ensure the problem(s) doesn’t arise again and lowered the budget by 57 mills. I created valuable partnerships across the state. I worked on and advocated for infrastructure and equipment projects totally over $14 million dollars and brought in $11 million dollars in grants to leverage your property tax dollars.

My record is clear- under my leadership Commissioner meetings are transparent and I always invite public participation. Montana law allows for the right of public participation. If a candidate for office cannot stand before the public in the most democratic of settings, a public debate, than how do you plan on sitting in the Commissioners seat for six years?

I am a true Independent leader. I listen to both sides of an argument, educate myself on the issues and make informed decisions that will make a better future for Musselshell County.
