2020 MT Tree City of the Year/Arbor Day Celebration To Be Held

The City of Roundup/Tree Board will celebrate Roundup’s designation as the 2020 MT Tree City of the Year along with its annual Arbor Day celebration on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. on the lawn of the Musselshell County Courthouse. Featured speaker will be Jennifer Solf, County Extension agent, providing useful information on the looming threat of the Emerald Ash Borer and other information concerning a healthy tree population. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Roundup’s designation as the 2020 MT Tree City of the Year came with a $10,000 no-match grant from the DNRC Urban and Community Forestry Division, which was used to contract with a certified arborist to update the 2014 tree inventory of all trees in the city’s parks, Main Street and boulevards throughout the city and to purchase replacement trees for failed trees at the east ballfields in the area of the Community Stage. The inventory has been completed and contains much valuable information. The city plans to remove the failed trees and plant replacements this week.

The celebration will also include a drawing for a free tree. All attendees of the celebration over 18 yrs. of age are eligible for the drawing. Transportation from the delivery site and planting are the responsibility of the winner.
