Just for The Love of It

"Just for the Love of it", an unusual new business in town is all about holistic healthcare for animals. Holistic healthcare for animals is a method of healing through relaxation to help regulate the immune system, which creates a cycle of healing. Kris Miller, Certified Practitioner through graduate study of Healing Touch for Animals, explains to me that, once an animal is in a state of relaxation, the immune system comes back into balance, then the animal will then begin to create a positive cycle that will help build enzymes, regulate hormones, release toxins, have healthy cell growth, promote healing, release endorphins, relax muscles, increase circulation, elevate oxygen and absorb nutrients. As a human being, you know that the medical benefits of touch and relaxation are very real. This is evidenced by the booming business of Chiropractors and Massage Therapists. This therapy has also proved helpful to the healing of animals. Kris explains to me that she works in coordination with the animal's owner and vet to provide the best possible outcome for the animal patient.

Some of the issues that can be benefited from Kris' work include injuries, trauma, euthanasia transition, anxiety, competition performance, behavioral issues, chronic illness, pain control, grief, separation issues, easing the dying process, disease prevention, rescue, rehoming, and attracting a forever home, as well as other issues.

Kris gave a particular example of a dog she had worked with that was quite difficult. The dog had been put in the pound and had all the grief, trauma, and anxiety that comes with this transition. The dog became aggressive and more difficult as time passed making him an unlikely candidate to find a new home. She began working with this dog, and before long the staff at the pound saw a noticeable change. With her help the dog overcame his grief and anxiety and was able to be rehomed. Kris explains her work as an "Inside out" type of healing. Once the animal can regain well-being and security, it can become healthy and interactive. More about this story can be found on her website KMillerAgSolutions.com.
