On Tuesday, February 9th, the Musselshell County Disaster and Emergency Services (DES) along with Tetra Tech Inc., met virtually to begin a update of the Musselshell County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan (PDM). This plan must be updated as required by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in order for Musselshell County to receive disaster mitigation funds and apply for mitigation grants.
The team will meet for meetings every three weeks through June to work through the updates. At the end of the meetings, a draft of the new plan will be sent to DES for final inspection and revision. The grants for Musselshell County from this project require twenty five percent of the final fund comes from the county, then seventy five percent will come from grant. Part of the counties requirement can be met through attending the meetings, and anyone who can attend will be counted towards this. Four of the main items the mitigation plan will focus on are flooding, wildfire, hazmat and transportation, and civil unrest. If you feel inclined to attend and input in future meetings you can contact Andrew Harper, Musselshell County DES at 406-323-2777, or [email protected]
