The Roundup Panthers had senior night on Friday and hosted the Joliet Jayhawks in a 4B Conference game. Senior night is always a big night especially if one of your own is participating in the event. Friday, the Panthers and community said thank you to Elijah Fish, Michael McHenry, and Kaide Griffith for all of your efforts in the Panther program and our community. Then it was time for warmups and onto the game. Different than the last couple of games the Panthers came out rolling lead by Michael. He scored 7 or his game high 11 in the quarter. Wyatt and Jace chipped in a few more and the Panthers were up 13-11 after one quarter. After the first the wheels slowly began to fall off as the Panthers struggled to make shots and attack the Jayhawk 1-2-2 zone. The second quarter was tough as the turnovers mounted and the score widened. Credit the Panther defense as it continually gave the Panthers an opportunity to get back into the game. Braedan, Jordan, Wyatt, Kylen, and Jace worked extremely hard on the defensive side of the ball. Jace led the way with 9 rebounds in the game. The Panthers trailed at the half 29-16 as the offense could only muster 3 points in the quarter. The Panthers never quit battling in the second half but they couldn’t over come untimely turnovers and poor shooting as the Jayhawks won 54-31.
Scoring was as follows: Michael McHenry 11, Jace Lemmel 10, Kaide Griffith 4, Wyatt Goffena 2, Braedan Bilden 2, Damarion Brewer 1, and Kylen Wolff 1.
