August 12-15,2021, MontanaCowboyPoetryGathering.com

Again this year, the official poster for the 36th Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering & Western Music Rendezvous, August 12-15, 2021 will be created by the gifted mult-media creativity of award-winning Montana artist, Shari Jenkins Schmit. Sharijenkins.com

For years, Shari has faithfully collected historical snippets, artifacts, buttons, pamphlets, maps and most often vintage photographs. “History is fascinating. It’s so worth preserving,” says Schmit. Shari has honed her unique approach to historic preservation, via her distinctive, multi-media art.

Shari’s ranching family is originally from Central Montana. Shari’s success as a designer of greeting cards started with Bookmark Card. In 2014, Bookmark Card was purchased by Leanin’ Tree Cards. In 2019, Leanin’ Tree sold over one million of Shari’s card designs. In 2021, Shari will launch her new Moda Fabrics line, by the Lipstick Cowgirl, Shari Jenkins Schmit. There is no end to the success of Shari’s visual success in connecting with the American consumer through her unique layered art.

The 36th Gathering, just one year younger than the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, this year stars iconic cowboy poet, songster and story-teller, Red Steagall. Red Steagall will perform Sat., August 14 at the Grand Stage Show at the Gathering in the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts.

The show will also feature the wit and humor of Sareena Murnane, of Choteau (probably the youngest performer at this year’s Gathering). Also on the marquee is the very Western, very charming, Carr Family Cowboy Band from Townsend, Nebraska. The show starts at 7:30. Tickets are available at the Lewistown Art Center, 406-535-8278, or 406-538-4575.

Shari Jenkins Schmit and Montana Cowboy Poetry share a passion for the history, legend and lore of the Upper Rocky Mountain cowboy. Come out to MT Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Thursday thru Sunday, Aug. 12-15, 2021 in Lewistown to discover what all the excitement is about! We’re just “Keepin’ It Cowboy” and celebrating our Montana heritage.
