It was the name that Dr. Fidel Castro gave his "movement," (which turned out to be an appropriate term) because it was the date on which he and his band of merry men took to the mountains of Oriente Province (as I recall) to oppose the government of Fulgencio Batista. I have NO doubt the existing regime needed replacement.
I mark the date and the movement for the attention and edification of Commie wannabes. It is an example, near to home and rather recent, of the utter failure and vicious barbarity of Communism as practiced by contemporary, tinhorn revolutionaries. China, N. Korea, and Vietnam are equally instructive.
If a person can examine Cuba over the past 60+ years and advocate implementing that system here, then I'd like to ship him down there permanently for a closer look.
Notice, too, that the Cuban government's method for suppressing the demonstrations against it is perfectly OK with Joebama and our ruling Democrats, the very same people that smile at looters' and arsonists' destroying our cities.
