Edward Clyde Proue

Edward Clyde Proue, 93, of Roundup, MT passed away peacefully July 16th with his loving wife of 62 years by his side. Ed was born to Isabella and Clyde Proue in Duran, WI on July 6th, 1928. Ed spent his childhood years on a ranch near Brusett, MT. During this time, he would ride his horse to school six miles each day and would even have to attend summer school because the winters were so harsh. Despite this, Ed looked back fondly on his time growing up in the Missouri breaks and would not have changed a thing.

After high school Ed went on to hold various jobs, including working for Boeing where he would install heating and cooling systems in 707 jet aircrafts. It was during this time he even got to see the first one ever take off! After working in Seattle for a few years Ed moved back to Montana, for a place that big was not where his country soul wanted to be. Upon returning to Montana, Ed worked for numerous different ranches and eventually settled into a role in the Montana Power Company as a gas line patrolman for 20 years.

On March 27th, 1959, Ed married the love of his life Dorothy Deines. Together they welcomed a son, Lee who was an addition to the family of two daughters Cheryl and Valerie from a previous marriage. Eventually Ed retired and him and Dorothy moved to Roundup, MT. During retirement Ed found joy in spending time with his grandkids. He also loved woodworking, boating, and camping at Fort Peck and was still walking outside daily well into his 90s. However, one of his absolute favorite past times was playing music. Ed never learned how to read music but was able to play by sound. Together him, Dorothy and Lee would spend hours playing music into the night, making cherished memories.

During his last year, he was moved to an assisted living facility in Roundup, MT and one of his greatest joys was when his great-grandson Kade came to visit. There was a bond between them immediately and he was great-grandpa's pride and joy. At the facility he was known as Mr. Ed, and everyone was kind beyond measure. The family would like to extend a thank you to Whispering Pines for taking such good care of Ed this past year. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as three brothers Earl, Don, and Val and one sister Patricia. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his son Lee (Ronda) Proue of Billings and daughters Cheryl of Billings and Valerie (Ernie) of Hinsdale, MT. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Collette (Jake) Kraft of Billings; Zach (Kelsey) Proue of Billings; Ginger (Steve) Zieglowsky of Lewistown, MT; Sage (Lindsey) Kallestad of Manhattan, MT; Chad (Synda) Nelson of Billings; and Ryan (Sara) Nelson of Billings. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and another on the way, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Per Ed's request there will be no formal funeral services, however, a time of sharing will be held on Friday, July 30th at the Roundup Senior Center from 2-5pm. All are welcome to come. Memorials may be made to the Roundup Volunteer fire department.
