If you have been in Roundup for very long you will know Tim Anderson. He is always on his bicycle riding around town spring, summer, fall, and winter. Tim is also commonly seen visiting the local businesses on his daily bike rides. Though you have seen him many times, you may not know that Tim has been in Roundup since 1979. He came here with his father from Little Falls, Minnesota. He has four brothers and a sister. His parents, youngest brother, and sister have all passed away. Tim lost his sister when she was 19 years old, when she died in a house fire in Ashland. She had been residing in a basement apartment and going to school to become a nurse. The home she stayed in caught fire and she wasn't able to get out.
Tim is now 68 years old. He lives in his own home on 7th Street West where he has been told that he has "Built a beautiful Rock Garden", and he likes to admire the horses across the fence. He tells me that there is "over 100 ton of rock in his yard". I paused thinking this surely couldn't be right, but when I consider that Tim likely packed each rock home on his bicycle, I think he probably knows best. His home has been featured in the Roundup Record in previous years because of its eclectic and artistic uniqueness. He told me it was also featured in a magazine, but he couldn't remember which one.
Tim likes to visit our office at the Roundup Record and give us ideas for articles. He is a unique character, who has an artistic mind. He is proud of his home and the work he has done there, and has a nice piece of artwork in the front yard. He is happy when people drive by and check it out.
Tim tells me that he eats all of his food from cans because he doesn't like to cook. I asked him why he didn't get meals on wheels, but he shook his head no. He said "No Way!" I guess canned food is more to his liking. Tim tells me of bikes that he works on, and I admire his ability to repair bicycles as not many people ride them or repair them anymore. He told me the bike he currently rides is a 24inch bike. I asked Tim if he puts studded tires on in the winter, he smiled and said "No, if it's icy I stick my feet out like skis." Tim has a great sense of humor, and its great to see him riding about town.
