On Thursday (Sept. 2nd) morning, a Prince Construction semi truck and trailer hauling a crane crashed into the railroad overpass on US 12/HWY 3 near Cushman. The boom arm of the crane hit the center truss of the bridge, bending the steel and concrete structure and pushing it upward which has prevented train traffic since the accident. The crane was left in the eastbound lane of the highway for several hours while crews worked to clear it from the scene. US 12/HWY 3 was closed the evening of Friday, Sept 3 from Lavina to Ryegate to repair the damage on the railroad overpass near Cushman. The train traffic and both lanes of traffic are open now.
