FALL HUNTER SAFETY CLASSES TO BEGIN

The fall hunter safety course will start on Wednesday, October 6 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Roundup Sportsmen’s Association shooting range, the first turn to the north, west of the golf course, on golf course road.

Students must be 10 or older to take and pass this course however, class size is limited to 30 and preference will be given to those students who are going to be 12 or older by January 16, 2022.

Students need to register for the class online at https://register-ed.com/programs/montana/32-montana-hunter-education-classroom-course. A parent or guardian must accompany the student on the first night of classes and will be asked to stay for about 30 minutes.

Hunter safety books can be picked up at the high school or grade school office and students should read the entire book and answer the questions at the end of each chapter before classes begin.

In order to pass the course students are required to attend all classes, including the field day that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Roundup Sportsman’s Association’s shooting range.

The tentative schedule for spring classes is (dates/times may change if there are school related conflicts):

In the 2015 legislative session HB 140 creating the hunter apprentice hunting certificate was enacted. The bill allows for students under the age of 12 to hunt and/or to take and qualify for a hunter safety certificate. Because class size is limited, preference will be given to students that will turn 12 by January 16, 2022 and overflow students will be asked to attend our hunter safety course offered in the spring of 2022.
