The American Dream is Still Alive and Thriving in Roundup Montana as Another New Business Begins

Bull Mountain Spray Foam operated by Willis and Alvin Hochstetler, sons of Jacob Hochstetler of Elk Country Builders. The young men have recently began running the spray foam insulation business and have already done three jobs with many more lined up. Willis had recently visited his brother in Wisconsin, and fell in love with the business and with support has started the business locally.

Willis explains that the process can be done on any type of building. It is water proof, wind proof, and mouse proof, as there are no gaps or cracks through the expanded foam process. The two hundred feet of hose is heated to 140 degrees, and the material doesn't mix till the end of the spray gun where it creates a reaction that expands into foam. The foam cannot be sprayed if the weather temperature is under thirty-two degrees because the foam will not expand. However, they can spray in the winter if they preheat the room.

There are two types of foam insulation, closed or open cell foam. Closed cell is denser and yields an R-7 value per 1 inch. The open cell insulation is airy, and more of a sound proofing quality. Closed cell insulation requires a ventilation system if you were to do the entire building, as it becomes air tight. The current cost to install this insulation with Bull Mountain Spray Foam is one dollar per board foot by 1 inch. Willis can do up to 3.5 inches thick for the closed cell insulation. The open cell insulation is .65 cents a board foot. The spray foam process only takes one day to complete.

If you are interested in having spray foam at your residence or have more questions, Willis can be contacted at (406)320-1797 or (406)323-2033. The entrepreneurs are off to a great start on their career.
