Agnes Abbott passed away Nov. 6, 2021 peacefully in her sleep at the Central Montana Nursing and Rehab Center in Lewistown, MT.
Agnes was born on September 16, 1926 at the family ranch at Absher, MT, near Melstone, to John and Josephine (Vesel) Spek. She was the youngest in the family of 10 children.
She attended the Absher school until it closed, and then went to Melstone school in the 4th grade, graduating in 1945 as valedictorian of her class. She enjoyed all sports, especially basketball. While attending school in Melstone, she boarded out with her older brother and his family.
She married Al Simons on May 7, 1946 and they had a son James and daughter Candace. They were divorced in 1951. Agnes then married Rulon Abbott of Grass Range on September 26, 1951, and daughter Peggy was born. After her marriage to Rulon, she moved to the Abbott Ranch on Flatwillow Creek near Grass Range. She lived there until the death of Rulon in 2006, then moved to Grass Range.
She had a green thumb and took pride in her yard and garden and house plants. Her great grandchildren were her pride and joy, and kept her busy keeping up with their school and activities.
Agnes was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Rulon, brothers Frank, John, Jack, Tony and Ed, sisters Mary, Jen, Frances and Alice, and her son Jim Simons.
She is survived by daughters Candace Simons of Billings, and Peggy (George) Nelson, grandson Justin (Kristie) and great grandchildren Kadence, Tysen and Kyla Nelson of Grass Range, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 11am at Cloyd Chapel in Lewistown. Interment to follow at Grass Range Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grass Range Ambulance, Grass Range Rural Fire, or of the choice of the donor.
