FLATWILLOW and WINNETT NEWS

The November meeting of Flatwillow Homemakers was held on the 9th at Melody’s home. She made a New England boiled dinner and we all contributed pot luck salads and desserts. It was delicious. We celebrated two November birthdays – Lillian Moore and Ginger Moore. We had a visitor with us. Jan Cain from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area was here visiting the Lunds, so she came to the meeting with us. She enjoyed meeting everyone and everyone enjoyed meeting her. Jan led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was answered with “something you are thankful for besides your family and friends.” We find we have so much to be thankful for. Sometimes, in the midst of challenges and different circumstances, we forget to be thankful for what we do have.

The Homemakers voted to donate $100 to the Winnett Lions Club for the Nativity scene they are putting together. It is a life size manger scene which will have around 20 pieces when they are finished. This year we have the stable, manger and baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the angel. We look forward to each year something being added. We want to thank Leo for building all the pieces and putting them together in his garage.

Next meeting will be at Luann’s home on December 14. She is making a turkey dinner and we will all bring delicious pot luck to go with it. It will be our Christmas party with the Christmas gift exchange. Donna won the blind pig. Lillian received a birthday gift from last month and Babs received a secret sister gift from last month that they opened so we could all see what they received. Everyone bid on the opportunity table. Linda and Arlene weren’t able to be here today but everyone else was there. Members present were Sandy Gonzalez, Bonnie Moore, Ginger Moore, Lillian Moore, Jean Cook, Luann Knutson, Donna Lund, Raye Anne Lund, Florence Wacker, Babs Lea, and guest Jan Cain.

We had to say goodbye to a couple more of our dear friends from our community. Brad Stahl fought hard against Covid and pneumonia, but wasn’t able to overcome them, and Karen Tetrault fought and lost her battle with cancer. These are wonderful friends that made an impact on us and were great supporters of the community. We send our hugs and sympathy to both their families.

The school Christmas program was this past Thursday in the gym. What a wonderful program. So fun to see and hear the kids singing Christmas songs and visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The last day of school for Christmas break was on Friday. They will return to class on January 3rd.

The Christmas program at church will be Sunday night (December 19) at 6:00. The kids have been working and practicing hard getting ready to put on their program. Hope to see everyone there. Thank you to Dixie and Jayci for all their hard work and thank you to the parents, and to all the kids with their willingness to work and be a part of the program. We look forward to seeing it.

Stay safe, stay warm and have a happy holiday season! Let’s all hope that 2022 is a wonderful year for everyone.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
