Jean Lillian Smetana

Jean Lillian Smetana passed away peacefully May 10, 2022 at the age of 72 after a short yet aggressive battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends throughout her illness. Jean was born on May 3, 1950 in Nashua, MT. She grew up and attended school in Fraser, MT. She met and married Dennis Smetana in Wolf Point, MT and soon after moved to Roundup, MT in 1980 along with her two sons, Lane and Rob Wolff. Jean worked at various business' in Roundup first starting at The V Store, then waitressed at the Busy Bee Café, managed the Clubhouse at Pine Ridge Golf Course, and finally landed her dream job as manager of Riverside Garden's down by the river. Jean was a great crafter and always had a tremendous green thumb. She grew many types of plants, trees and flowers for friends, family, neighbors and the local community. Her passion for gardening and planting did not stop at the greenhouse as she loved tending to her own very large garden and beautiful flower beds around her home. Jean was preceded in death by her mother and step father Shirley and Gifford Standing, father Larry Wiseman and husband Dennis Smetana. Jean is survived by her sons Lane Wolff (Monica Drew) of Billings and Rob (Deanna) Wolff of Roundup, grandchildren Saydee, Savanna and Kylen, her sisters Irene (Lowell) Standing and Brenda (Eldon) Porras of Wolf Point, Jane (Ortie) Twitchell of Billings and her brother LeRoy (Vicki) Wiseman of Glasgow to include many nieces and nephews. She is missed dearly by her family and friends and requested no services. The family would like to thank Sunflower Gardens staff for their compassion, love, and caring support during Jean's final weeks. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
