Roundup Memorial Healthcare is a vital resource to serving the needs of our community, and you have shown amazing support for local health care. In June, our community will once again be asked to support RMH through a mill levy. This levy helps to stabilize hospital resources and finances, allowing us to continue to provide the safe, quality care our community deserves.
What the levy will do: Provide a critical funding source for the hospital to make much needed improvements and maintain daily operations to better serve the community.
What the levy does NOT do: Increase your tax bill. The 2021 property valuations have not increased from the 2018 property valuations, and the levy will not change the amount of tax related to the hospital.
What to know:
• Rural health care is financially fragile. The levy is a resource to help us remain financially viable.
• Fixed daily costs for hospital operations have risen 54% over the last four years.
• This gives us that stability and allows us to focus on growth opportunities to serve our community in additional ways. Without this, we would face serious financial challenges that could affect operations.
• The mill levy supports 24/7 health care services and daily operations at Roundup Memorial Healthcare, including:
• Emergency services, providers and clinical staff, lab testing, and radiology.
• Allows to upgrade and modernize equipment and technology to continue providing lifesaving services.
• Replacing aging technology.
• Improving patient safety and response times during an emergency.
• The need for local health care services continues to grow. In 2021, the RMH emergency room treated 1,657 patients, the most it has ever had. That number is expected to increase year over year.
• This is our community hospital. Roundup Memorial Healthcare is a community partner, one of the largest employers in the county and a resource that keeps people close to home for their health care.
“While the hospital is in much better financial shape than four years ago, due in part to the mill levy, challenges remain as we continue to modernize and upgrade the facility. Supporting this levy doesn’t just support the hospital, it supports the entire community and every patient who walks through the doors at Roundup Memorial Healthcare.” - Dave Liggett, Roundup Memorial Healthcare District Board Chair.
