Melstone's History Sign Nears Completion

Along the highway passing through Melstone is being erected a three-sided sign depicting a condensed history of the Melstone area. With grants from both Signal Peak Energy and Humanities Montana, the project is underway and scheduled for completion by June 30th or sooner.

Twenty-five years before the railroad arrived and the town of Melstone was founded in 1908, the RL cowboys were trailing a herd of cattle from the West and stopped at the Big Bend of the Musselshell to graze before continuing on to their destination.
