This fast-paced romantic comedy with several interwoven plots of romance, mistaken identities, practical jokes, and multiple weddings revolves around how unexpected human connections can change who people think they are.
Twelfth Night includes familiar theatrical ruses: a shipwreck, counterfeit letter, misidentification, and a sword fight. But also, the especially funny scene in which dour Malvolio hops around in yellow stockings to entice his beloved, only to be later imprisoned for his lunatic behavior. An evening of laughter shadowed by the forces of grief and melancholy. This play’s affirmation comes in understanding all that must be achieved for desire to reach true fulfillment in a world in which evil exists.
