As we mentioned in past articles, the James Webb Telescope took NASA 30 years to design and build at a cost of ten billion dollars. It's mission is to send images back to earth for Astronomical studies. James Webb Telescope is a space telescope currently conducting infrared astronomy. As the largest optical telescope with high resolution and high sensitivity instruments allowing it to view objects too old, distant, or faint for the Hubble space telescope. The James Webb Telescope was launched December 25, 2021 at 5:20am from the ESA's space port in French Guiana. When launched the Webb weighed 13,580 pounds. So what keeps this humongous space craft from falling from the Universe? The gravitational forces of the Sun and Earth can readily hold a spacecraft at this point. It slows it down so that the spacecraft so little rocket thrust is needed to keep the spacecraft in orbit. After the successful launch of the Webb into space it headed for L2 which is the the Lagrange point of the sun almost one million miles from earth. So far, the James Webb Telescope has been flawlessly performing it's designed tasks. On March 24, 2023 NASA's Webb Telescope captured a rarely seen prelude to Supernova the rare sight of a Wolf Rayet star.Among the most massive, and briefly detectable stars known. It was the Webbs powerful infrared instruments that allowed man to see this star which is 15,000 light years away from the constellation of Sagittarius.Sadly, this remarkable spacecraft and the Webbs findings go unnoticed by many of our own species who allow greed to get in their way of viewing the wonderful world about us and universe above us. Greed is an insatiable desire for things. World leaders such as Russia's Putin,China's Xi jingping and Ukraines Zelensky and Americas Joe Biden threaten each other for an over attachment of the material world and pleasures. Who will get the most of these with the human race caught between their weapons of tactical nuclear destruction. If I had a way to change man-kind I would eliminate greed from our desires. Then marvels like the James Webb Telescope could be seen by us all. Saving the human race from a nuclear blast.
