The Roundup High School Agriculture Department received a grant from the Mussell Valley Community Foundation in the amount of $2,856.73, providing the shop with industrial racks for safe and efficient storage of metal and lumber. Through this grant, the agriculture shop is investing in two vertical metal racks and one large horizontal metal rack.
Roundup High School has a growing agricultural mechanics and fabrication program with more than half of the high school population enrolled in agricultural courses. Students engage in hands-on learning through classes including introductory mechanics, welding, small engines and a new advanced fabrication class. Students are also broadening their knowledge of agriculture with courses in horticulture, animal science and agriculture leadership.
The new metal racks provide an opportunity for students to organize and safely use metal throughout the year. Through generous metal donations from MRL Equipment Company in Billings, the agriculture shop is stocked and ready to kick off the new year.
"This is the best job in the world," says agriculture instructor Angela Mayfield. "Our students are talented, driven and growing with career technical education. We are grateful for the support of the Musselshell Valley Community Foundation and partners like MRL."
