Rep. Rosendale Votes in Favor of the National Defense Authorization Act

Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act. The legislation includes two amendments introduced by Congressman Rosendale. The first would prohibit the Department of Defense from using taxpayer dollars for gender reassignment surgery and gender hormone therapy, while the second limits the U.S. military's ability to detain American citizens on U.S. soil without charges or representation.

"For far too long, Democrats have used the National Defense Authorization Act – the mechanism that funds our military – to advance their radical agenda on our men and women in uniform, weakening our military," said Rep. Rosendale.

"This year's authorization puts an end to the Left's woke agenda inflicted on our military by ending taxpayer funding for expenses related to abortion services, gender reassignment surgeries, and funding for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provisions. This year's authorization also includes the largest basic pay increase in more than 20 years – 5.2 percent.

This past week, House Republicans worked tirelessly crafting this critical piece of legislation by reviewing over 1,400 amendments and debating and voting on hundreds. I commend House Leadership for abiding by the rules package we voted on in January and for allowing each Member to have a voice and better represent their constituents.

Congress has a duty to make our military the most effective fighting force on Earth. The Left's woke and radical agenda is simply a distraction. That's why I was proud to vote in favor of this year's NDAA by putting an end to the Left's use of our military as a social experiment and providing our servicemembers with the resources they need to defend our nation successfully. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to vote in favor of this legislation as well."
