Colleen Yvonne Erickson, 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and coach passed away in the early morning hours of July 22nd in her home in Roundup, MT.
Colleen was born in Lemmon, SD. September 8th, 1936, to John Levi Waggoner and Frances Heidle Waggoner. She married Walter Marking and shortly thereafter had 3 children join their family, Bradley, Greg and Curtis. Colleen and Walter then moved their family to Roundup, MT in 1957 and were accompanied by three more children, Yvonne, Cornel and Joel.
After moving to Harlo, MT in 1979, Colleen met Dick Erickson and moved back to Roundup. Colleen and Dick called Roundup home for the remainder of their lives together. Colleen had a great passion for swimming, as evident by her many years coaching the Roundup swim team. Many children were blessed by her mentorship, and she was a key factor in helping raise money for the community pool!
Colleen was involved in many groups and organizations over the years, but the time her and Dick spent traveling for many years working in marketing for several retirement facilities all over the country were just as important to her. In their travels together, they visited over 50 different hot springs. Genealogy was another passion of Colleen's due to her soulful pride in her Hunkpapa Sioux lineage. Colleen spent countless hours learning and documenting Native American history and passing that along to her friends and family.
Colleen will be greatly missed by all her dearest friends and family. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, and children, Greg, Curtis, and Cornel. She is survived by her husband, Dick Erickson; sisters, Kay Moliter and Marlene Kane; children, Bradley (Shirley) Marking, Yvonne (Dan) Pfeifer, Joel (Kerri) Marking; daughter-in-law Pam Marking; stepchildren Todd (Cathy) Erickson and Tim (Sandra) Erickson; grandchildren, Angie Allen, Misty Bruce, Becky Murphy, Derek Pfeifer, Nichole Pfeifer, Brian Pfeifer, Travis Bourne, Hannah Vescovi, Reed Marking, Brittney Hough, Tiffany Cunningham, Erika Burden, and Beth Ogden; and twenty-four great grandchildren.
