Lavina Launches Beef 2 School Program

Team Beef at Lavina School is proud to offer locally grown beef to our students.

Ranchers, Kj Fauth and Scott Wessel, school board member, Jennelle Wallis, and Lavina School Superintendent, Nicole Hanson had an idea to bring beef into the school last year.

Together we discussed ways to create partnerships with our region's number one industry: ranching. The idea was presented to Kyle Francisco, Lavina School's head cook. In order for Beef 2 School to be successful, the school cook has to be involved. We also are relying heavily on our relationship with the Winnett School District. Schoolboard Chair/Rancher, Charlie Ahlgren has been instrumental in helping us get the program up and running.

Our goal for the future is simple: feed students locally-raised beef at Lavina School. In order to do this, we need the community to get involved. The greatest need is money for processing. Each beef cost approximately $1100 to process. We aim to have four beef processed for the 2023-2024 school year. To find out more information, visit with one of the committee members: KJ Fauth (chair), Scott Wessel (co-chair), Jennelle Wallis, Kyle Francisco, Cody Wessel, and Nicole Hanson.

Thank you to the following ranches for donating beef this year: Fauth Ranch, Wessel

Ranch, JC Heiken and Sons, and Erik Lehfeldt.
