June

June 1 - Our menu today is Polish Dogs, mashed potatoes, carrots/cabbage, and cupcakes for dessert. There were thirty-one members present and eight take-out orders for lunch.

The Mail-A-Meal boxes should arrive at the senior center on Monday around noon. If you are a paying member of seniors, be sure to let Patti know if you would like a box.

The 2nd annual Winnett Cancer Walk will be at the school gym on June 10 from 5-7pm. There will also be a sloppy joe supper available to buy while at the walk.

The 50/50 for $11 was won by Donna Rowton. Tom Iverson won senior of the month. Congratulations to you both. After chores were finished, cards were played.

June 8 - We enjoyed a delicious lunch of chicken pot pie, cottage cheese, banana cookie salad, and Rhubarb Dessert. I don’t have any information on how many were there or happenings discussed at this meeting.

June 15 - Thirty members were here today to enjoy ham and bean soup, Red Lobster biscuits, sliced cheese, relish tray, and a fresh fruit cup for dessert.

Georgia brought her sister Dorothy as a guest today. It is always nice to meet new friends. Thank you to all who came and walked at the cancer walk, and contributed to help with research and resources to fight cancer.

Area II’s quarterly meeting will be tomorrow at 10:00. Our Mail-A-Meal boxes finally arrived. Sylvia won the 50/50 for $10. After dishes were done and chores were finished, cards were played.

June 22 - Today is our 4th Thursday and we always enjoy a birthday meal of oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes with milk gravy, lettuce salad, cranberries, with birthday cake and ice cream. There were thirty-one seniors and eight take out meals for lunch. Russ, Marcia, and Sylvia were here today that have birthdays in June. Happy Birthday to all who celebrated a birthday in June.

Lee and Marcia Iverson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you on a wonderful milestone. Murry Lou with Area II was here. She handed out two surveys for everyone to fill out. They are both surveys on Medicare. One was a SMP Senior Medicare Report. It is used to help prevent Medicare fraud. The other survey was pertaining to the Medicare Group Education Satisfaction. Please fill out the SMP report today. You can win a $25 gas card, but you do need to fill out the survey.

Jim, Ginger, Ralph, and Carol Ann attended the Area II meeting in Winnett. Gary, Linda, Cassie, Luann, Kim, and Murry Lou were good presenters. They said the sound system was good, the food was good. It was very nice that the meeting could be held in Winnett.

The cancer walk on the 10th brought in $3700.00. There were 148 luminaries. Thank you to Kim and Carol Ann for making luminaries, and to Kim for organizing and putting it together.

Patti thanked everyone for their help and food brought in for Burt’s funeral. Memorials in his name were given to the Seniors, ambulance, swimming pool and endowment fund. Thank you for your generous giving and the love shown to Burt and the family.

The playhouse for kids that was in the basement of the courthouse for all kids to play on and enjoy was originally donated to the seniors by Chris and Gari King. It has now been donated to the Sweet Peas Day Care Center that recently opened in Winnett. Thank you.

The 50/50 was $11. I didn’t catch who won it this week. Trivia night will be at the bar on Sunday night, the 25th. Happy hour starts at 5:00. Everyone is welcome. If you aren’t on a team, show up anyway and they will put you on a team. The WIT tournament put on by Levi and Kate Johnson is this weekend in Winnett. The Lions will have their meeting at Leo and Kim’s house on Tuesday. Thank you to Ginger for the June birthday cakes. Kim will make birthday cakes for July. Diane I. gave an update on their son Paul. The most recent scan showed the tumor is growing again but he knows he is in good hands. Also, Tom is doing OK. Ralph reminded everyone to fill out their survey forms for Murry Lou. Cards were played before and after the meal and meeting.

June 29 - We had cabbage patch stew, melons, croissants, and an ice cream sundae. There were twenty-three here today for lunch and eight take-out meals.

Joan was here for lunch today. Always wonderful to see her. Kim was told that the rocking chairs need to be moved into and then out of storage. The next PCC meeting is July 5 at 8:00am. The 50/50 for $8.50 was won by Sharon.

Cards were enjoyed before and after the meal. Everyone helped with clean-up and dishes. June is already over, and now we look forward to July.
