Letters to the Editor

The Environmental Protection agency has a mission. This mission is to protect Americans' health and save our environment from harm that would in the long run affect us in a negative and harmful way. But this organization that was formed during the President Richard Nixon era, has gotten way out of control. It was in July of 1970 that then President Nixon gave power to the EPA under the EPA order 11102.Since 1970, the EPA has been allowed to grow into a fierce competitor for our freedoms and desires as a people. On July 5, 2023 the American Petroleum Institute [API] approached the EPA regarding the de facto ban on gas engines by the year 2025.This new EPA proposal on gas powered vehicles will reduce the freedom of Americans to choose a car or truck that best fit their needs and family budget. At the same time the EPA pushes electric car use ignoring the fact that our infrastructure, consumer acceptance and supply chain supply would be challenged and be a financial burden to us. The EPA has proved that this organization has a narrow focus on a singular technology that risks and undermines U.S. energy by forcing us into a reliance on foreign sources for raw materials and critical minerals. The API argues back to the Environmental Protection Agency that by protecting and preserving consumer choice of affordable reliable transportation options, that a reduction of gas emissions would occur. How much power does the EPA actually have in our lives? The head and administrator is chosen by the then President as part of his cabinet. This person must be approved and confirmed by our Senate. Yes, this gives the EPA power to help with deadly toxins bleed into our water systems, and any health threatening situations. But,it is still our Congress that must pass and approve any laws that affect our lives, not the EPA. Many Americans have challenged the EPA in our high court, the Supreme Court and won their case. The Supreme Court has argued that the powers of the EPA are limited. But we have Obama era corrupt Judges that try to find ways to get around these Supreme Court rulings. And this stops our progress as a growing and striving nation in technology and commerce.
