Robert "Bob" Russell Atchison, 75, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 in Billings, Montana. Bob was born in Fort Benton, Montana on November 5, 1948 to Russell Malcolm and Betty Jean (Hopkins) Atchison.
Bob graduated from Geraldine High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Morse in Lewistown, Montana, October 26, 1985. Bob was a cowboy. He was a horse trainer, horse breeder, ranch cowboy, feedlot cowboy and jack of many trades.
He enjoyed and participated in team roping and roping clubs in Choteau, Malta, Lewistown, and the Billings area. Bob was a member of AQHA, WTRC, and the NRA.
Bob was a good dad that hauled his kids to every horse event and sporting event he could. He loved his kids and family activities: team roping, horse shows, school functions, and birthday parties; horses, dogs, and finally a cat this year.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Betty; sister, Debbie Lelievre; in-laws, George and Dora Morse. He is survived by his wife, Carol Atchison; children, Brenda (Bill) Curry, Shelby (Trevor) Welch, and Colby (Brie) Atchison; grandchildren, William Curry, Weston (Stephanie) Curry, and Wylee (Marissa) Curry; great-grandchildren, Makrina, Robert, Cody, Wyatt, Alison, and Wells; siblings, Peggy (Doug) Safely, Linda (Barry) Curtis, Jay Atchison; sister-in-law, Julie (Lonnie) Cox; and brothers-in-law, Joe Lelievre and Paul Morse; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob's funeral service will be held at the Community Center (700 3rd St. W.) in Roundup, Montana, Saturday, January 6th at 10 a.m .; a reception will follow. Graveside services will be at the Central Montana Memorial Gardens, 2:00 p.m. just north of Lewistown, Montana. Memorials can be made to the St Vincent Foundation or the Rimrock Humane Society.
